Very cute. Google docs is a great thing. I'm in love with their forms!
ReplyDeleteMe too, Katie. :) I just made a form today to survey teachers about PLC's for next year.
DeleteYES, playing with tech tools! I Love it!
ReplyDeleteBonnie
And thanks for sharing how you integrate technology. You continue to inspire me. :)
DeleteI love using google documents, but I don't use it for conferring. Will you post more about how you are using it??

Sure! I'll also search for some links for teachers that are posting about using the forms in Google Docs to confer.
DeleteYou have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge! My hat is off to you for delving into new technological areas. I start, then get frustrated, finally abandon when things don't gel for me. Roxy is one smart kitty!
ReplyDeleteTime is such a big factor too. I find I have work for a while then get up and do something else just to clear my brain.
DeleteI love Google Docs. Ruth and I used it constantly when we wrote Day by Day. It was very useful, especially when we needed to look at the same thing at the same time. Much better than sending attachments back and forth.
ReplyDeleteAs for Live Binder, I've never heard of it 'til today. Will have to check it out!
It is so fun to think about the different ways teachers/writers use different tools. :)
DeleteWow...you can do that with googledocs?! I've just mastered the basic stuff, but now you've inspired me, Diana!
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling like less of a dork. Learning about forms has helped me to understand more about spreadsheets too. What gets me is all the vocabulary associated with the different tools. When I can't figure something out, I'll search for tutorials. It's like they are speaking a different language.
DeleteI understand that the only way to learn to use the tools is to experiment and practice. I would say that I am a novice in using many of them.
ReplyDeleteTerje
I'm a novice too. :) I just figured I better take the plunge.
DeleteLove Google Docs. I use it with my creative writing students all the time. They share with me. I can write comments back. They share some more...and they share with each other.
ReplyDeleteI have looked at live binders, but haven't taken the plunge yet...
That is so cool! I bet they love it.
DeleteI love Google Docs but haven't done that much with it, more with Wikis. And instead of LiveBinders, which I suggested to my techy class students, I'm using Evernote. Great to hear about what you're doing Diana. I hope you tell us more!
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of Evernote. I will have to check it out.
DeleteI checked out Evernote. Way cool and fun. The biggest difference I see between LiveBinders and Evernote is if I want to embed Google Docs, I would have to use the premium version of Evernote, which has a fee. So far, LiveBinders is free. But that could change. Since you have used both, what have you noticed?
DeleteAren't web tools fun? I like how you said they were getting you up early and keeping you up late. :-) I'm with Linda -- you HAVE to try Evernote, I LOVE it for organizing my plethora of ideas, resources, and tools! I have a whole ton of web tools saved in my Evernote that I'm slowly exploring and trying out with kids. I'd be happy to share some with you! (I plan to blog about one later this week, in fact.)
ReplyDeleteExcellent! So, you like Evernote better than LiveBinders?
DeleteSo maybe the words "geek" and "nerd" are going to have new synonyms in a thesaurus- learner, knowledge hound, educator!
ReplyDeleteI was using Google Docs for my conferring notebook and it was working really well. This year I am on a one year leave of absence to do another position, but when I heard about the Confer App, I told the teachers at my school about it and have been hearing really positive feedback about it. They have been making suggestions for improvement and have noticed updates that reflect response to their needs.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool! Is the Confer App available to anyone or just for your school. I would love to know more about how you used it and the impact it had on how teachers conferred with their students.
